The United Kingdom is set to progress with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They further noted that the decision would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.

British restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had solely been sourced from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to push forward toward using the complete amount of the seized Russia's state holdings to conclude the conflict.

He stated that more restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union leaders met in Copenhagen recently to consider employing frozen Russia's holdings for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Recently, American leader Donald Trump urged international partners to take or otherwise use immobilized Russian assets, according to reports.

The worth of immobilized Russia's holdings in the European Union is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky urges UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the weapons procurement initiative

Russia carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes all over Ukraine on recently, causing electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a message on social media subsequent to the strike, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not just talk but concrete steps - from the US, Europe, and the seven nations - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed the press he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which Nato countries purchase military equipment from the America to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's firm backing for Ukraine, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the system, as well as apply additional measures on Russia.
