British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
