Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to block the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities offered varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser should have intervened when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
