Patrick Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side just half a year following starting disrespectful taunts directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has put pen to paper on a agreement joining the second-tier strugglers until January. His seven-year career at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

One of the player's final notable acts while at Leeds involved leading abusive songs regarding Chris Wilder during the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the former England international will be playing for Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to lift the team he loves away from the bottom places.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict before Leeds moved up to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United won automatic promotion while Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Looking Ahead

All appears has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I have no problem whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and we had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles

Bamford made 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
