Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
